General characteristics:
Its design consists of two plants in cascade, one near the village of Cuyuja (50 MW) and another near the village of Baeza (50 MW).
Companies:
The Empresa Eléctrica Quito S/A (in charge of the project) main shareholders are the Solidarity Fund of Ecuador (controlled by the federal government) and the Municipality of Quito.
Protected areas affected:
- Antisana Ecological Reserve (REA).
- Cayambe Coca Ecological Reserve (RECAY).
Funding:
The Export Development Bank of Iran (EDBI) has pledged to finance 60% of the work.
