Quillacollo, Cochabamba department.

General characteristics:

  • The Misicuni Dam is part of a multipurpose project and will be implemented in two phases.
  • During the first one, already started, the dam installed capacity will be  80MW. During the second phase this energy potential would increase to 120 MW.

Population on the reservoir area:

319 families, 1365 people.

Indigenous communities affected:

  • Patapampa.
  • Misicuni.
  • Uyuni. 
  • Sivingani.
  • Kochamayu.
  • Aguadas.
  • San Isidro.
  • Putucuni.
  • Misicuni 2. 

Protected areas affected:

Tunari National Park.

Financing (first phase):

  • Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) - 101 million dollars.
  • National Treasury (TGN) - 14 million dollars.

Timeline:

  • Construction started in April 2010.
  • Implementation period: April 2010 - October 2013.
  • Operations expected to start in November 2013.
