Foz do Apiacás is part of the Hydroelectric Complex Teles Pires, also composed by other five hydroelectric other dams: Teles Pires (1820 MW), São Manuel (746 MW), Sinop (461 MW), Colíder (342 MW) and Magessi (53 MW).

Companies:

Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE) is an agency under the Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy .

Timeline:

Federal Government expects that the plant will start operating in 2015.

* Indigenous people possibly affected:

  • Kaiabi (Indigenous Land Kayabi).
  • Apiaká (Indigenous Land Kayabi).

* impacts not officially confirmed. The Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE) is conducting studies to identify impacts on the above mentioned communities.
