Location:
Two kilometers upstream from Puerto Limón, and immediately before
Mocoa river mouth on the Caquetá River.
Companies:
Isagen, in charge of the project, is a mixed capital company linked to the Ministerio de Minas y Energía (Ministry of Mines and Energy). Its shareholding structure is formed by the Colombian government (57.66%), company EPM (12.95%), pension funds (13.66%) and minority shareholders (15.73%).
Indigenous people affected:
Inga and Yanacona (Guayuyaco and Aponte Indigenous Reserves).
Protected areas affected:
- Natural Serrania de los Churumbelos National Park (the reservoir flooding area would affect about 10 km2 of the park and its buffer zone).
- Territory Auka Wasi (area located in Natural Serrania de los Churumbelos National Park traditionally used by indigenous groups).
Environmental licensing:
Due to the expected impacts on Natural Serrania de los Churumbelos National Park, the environmental license was denied in November 2009 by the environmental authorities.
